12. The Most Valuable Possession In The World
Posted by admin in Succes and happiness on December 13, 2009
The secret to remember is the importance of health and vitality in your life. Quite simply, it’s the most valuable possession we can ever have. Remind yourself of this often using these three words: Seek Health First . Next, remember that the best way to deal with potential health problems is to prevent them from occurring.
Experts tell us that 2/3 of all deaths in the nation are premature. Don’t let that be you! Make health your top priority! Health is more than just the absence of disease. It’s a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing. You must have total good health to generate the energy you need to succeed. There are no shortcuts! It’s up to each individual to become master of his/her health.
The miracle machine of your body needs proper care to serve you well. Establish a health program that’s right for you and as you do, make the most of the four basic components of health: oxygen, water, food and exercise. Assure that your body gets enough oxygen. Adequate oxygen is necessary to sustain all vital life processes. Practice focused-breathing at least three times a day. Keep your body properly hydrated. Drink and adequate amount of water each day. Study nutrition; decide what is and what isn’t good for you. Investigate for yourself what diet is right for you. And most important, only consume the food you need for proper nutrition.
Reserve your energy to achieve your goals, not just to process and digest surplus food. Establish a daily exercise program. Include a variety of activities you find enjoyable. Include breathing and stretching exercises, aerobic exercises such as jogging, bicycling or swimming and muscle toning exercises such as weight lifting or the equivalent. Beyond a regular exercise regimen, increase your general level of activity as much as possible: move more, walk more, engage in recreational sports.

Businesses succeed when they operate under this law, but the principle applies in your life whatever you do. As it is been said, the measure of life is not its duration, but its donation! Just remember: the scales will always balance your rewards with your contribution, whatever it may be. And when you concentrate on your service, the rewards will take care of themselves.

Parkinson’s Law describes the human tendency of work expanding to fill the time available for its completion. It’s the opposite of and contrary to the art of expanding time. The secret to expanding your time is to organize and control your time which you can do through the discipline of setting priorities.
Don’t start a day until you have it finished! Use the simple 3 step process for managing your time that we discussed:
- 1 Prepare a list of tasks to be completed.
- 2 Prioritize the list in order of importance.
- 3 Take action on the tasks one at a time.
Use a time-log to identify unproductive activities. Keep the log very accurately for at least two weeks and longer if you wish. This is one of the simplest and most powerful techniques for taking control of your time.
Recognize procrastination as a thief of time. Planning in advance and commitment to priorities will help defeat procrastination, but it’s equally important to identify the fear of failure from which procrastination derives. Be aware that you must eagerly accept the risk of failure in order to enjoy the possibility of ultimate success!
Expand time by enlisting others in your cause. Delegate when possible, otherwise lead by the strength of your purpose and by your enthusiasm, and don’t be reluctant to give others credit! Learn when to say “no”, it’s one of the most effective tools for managing time you will ever find. You have all the time you need if you manage it wisely!
